London Stock Exchange to Launch 24/5 Venue LSE 24 in 2027
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) plans to launch LSE 24, a near-continuous trading venue for exchange-traded products (ETPs), in the first half of 2027. This new venue aims to facilitate both algorithmic and agentic trading across global time zones, which could enhance trading efficiency and liquidity.
By introducing 24/5 trading capabilities, LSE 24 positions itself to attract a wider range of traders and institutions, particularly those engaged in high-frequency trading strategies. The initiative underscores the increasing demand for flexibility in trading offerings as markets evolve and diversify.
Key takeaways
- ▸LSE 24 will provide near-continuous trading for ETPs, operating 24 hours a day, five days a week.
- ▸The new venue is aimed at enhancing algorithmic and agentic trading opportunities across different global time zones.
- ▸This initiative reflects the growing trend for round-the-clock trading capabilities in the financial markets.
Why this matters
LSE 24 could significantly reshape how trading in ETPs is conducted, potentially increasing trading volumes and attracting institutional participants who require greater access and flexibility.
