Key takeaways
- ▸Kraken launched a debit card for crypto payments.
- ▸The card enables customers to pay using cryptocurrency.
- ▸It is a debit card linked to Kraken‑issued payment product.
Why this matters
Kraken’s entry into the crypto‑debit‑card space intensifies competition with established players such as Coinbase and Crypto.com, potentially driving broader consumer adoption of crypto for everyday spending. By offering a native card, Kraken can deepen customer engagement, increase transaction volume on its platform, and capture interchange revenue that pure‑play exchanges typically miss. This move may also pressure regulators to clarify oversight of crypto‑linked payment instruments as they become more mainstream.
